Live multi-camera production for macOS

Run the
whole show
from one Mac.

A lot of professional multi-camera software is Windows-only. InterDirector is a native Mac console for the operator who runs the show alone: switching, audio, graphics, streaming, recording and instant replay in one app.

Why it exists

Made for the Mac, not ported to it.

Professional multi-camera tools are often Windows-only. If your desk is a Mac, you've been working around that. InterDirector is the console built for the machine you already run.

Native, start to finish

Swift and Metal on Apple Silicon. The picture is composited on the GPU, sound runs through Core Audio, and streams are encoded by the Mac's own media engine.

One operator, one desk

Preview and Program stay in view while everything else scrolls. Every live action has a hotkey and a Stream Deck key, and rules can chain the routine ones.

Built to stay on air

Sources that drop are retried until they return. Recordings are written so a crash keeps everything up to the last second. Outputs fail independently.

Switching

See it switch.

Screen capture from InterDirector itself: load a source into Preview, choose how it goes to air, and take it.

What's inside

One app for the whole desk.

The parts of a live desk a solo operator actually uses, in one place, without a stack of separate tools.

Switching

Preview, Program, and transitions

Cut, Fade, Fade to Black and Dip, a T-bar, and a clean fullscreen Program on a second display.

Inputs

Bring in anything

NDI, USB and UVC capture, Blackmagic SDI, Core Audio devices, web pages, images, media and slideshows. Combine any of them into a Composite that switches like a camera.

Audio

Three stereo mixes. VST3 on every path.

Route each source to Master, A or B, add Apple Silicon VST3 effects to sources and mixes, and line up cameras and microphones with per-input sync delay.

Overlays

Graphics that update themselves

HTML overlays for lower thirds, tickers and logos, bound to CSV or JSON data, with countdowns typed straight into any text.

Outputs

Stream, record, send

RTMP, RTMPS and SRT to as many destinations as you need from one encode. Program out over NDI and SDI. Record Program, and every input to its own file.

Replay

Instant replay

Keep the last minute of Program, capture the moment, and play it back at any speed, over Program or instead of it.

Control

Hotkeys, Stream Deck, automations

Every live action is assignable. A Stream Deck plugin with state feedback, a local control API, and rules that say: when this happens, do that.

Reliability

Built for the long shift.

A live show doesn't get a second take. These are the things InterDirector does when something goes wrong.

  • Sources come back on their own

A camera, capture device or NDI sender that drops is retried until it returns, and its card says it is retrying.

  • Recordings survive a crash

Files are written in one-second fragments, so a power cut keeps everything up to the last second.

  • Outputs fail on their own

A stalled stream does not stop the recording, and neither touches Program.

  • Your Show stays safe

Autosave, recovery files, and a rule that a damaged file never overwrites your last good copy.

FAQ

Questions people ask.

Is InterDirector a vMix alternative?

vMix is Windows software. InterDirector covers the parts of that workflow a Mac operator needs, as a native app: NDI-based switching, audio, graphics, streaming, recording and replay. It is not a clone, and it does not open vMix projects.

Which Macs and which macOS?

Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 15 or later.

What capture hardware does it support?

NDI sources on your network, USB capture that macOS exposes as a camera (Elgato Cam Link and similar), and Blackmagic DeckLink and UltraStudio devices through Blackmagic's Desktop Video software.

Can I use my VST3 plug-ins?

Yes: Apple Silicon native VST3 effects, on sources and on mixes. Instruments are not supported.

How does it get updates?

InterDirector checks for signed updates itself and installs them when you say.
