Built for Apple Silicon Macs.
An Apple Silicon Mac on macOS 15 or later is all InterDirector needs to run. Some inputs, outputs and controls need a little more, and it is listed here.

- Stream Deck
- Stream Deck software 6.4 or later, to use the Stream Deck plug-in that comes with InterDirector.
- VST3
- VST3 effect plug-ins built for Apple Silicon. Instruments are not supported.
Questions people ask.
Is InterDirector a vMix alternative?
vMix is Windows software. InterDirector covers the parts of that workflow a Mac operator needs, as a native app: NDI-based switching, audio, graphics, streaming, recording and replay. It is not a clone, and it does not open vMix projects.
Which Macs and which macOS?
Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 15 or later. Intel Macs are not supported.
What capture hardware does it support?
NDI sources on your network, USB capture that macOS exposes as a camera (a capture card such as the Elgato Cam Link is one example), and Blackmagic capture devices through Blackmagic's Desktop Video software.
Can I use my VST3 plug-ins?
Yes: Apple Silicon native VST3 effects, on sources and on mixes. Instruments are not supported.
How does it get updates?
InterDirector checks for signed updates at launch and once a day, and installs one only when you say. It never checks while you are streaming, recording or sending NDI.
What video formats can a Show run at?
A Show runs at 720p, 1080p, 1440p or 2160p, at 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94 or 60 frames per second. Video is progressive, standard dynamic range, Rec. 709.
Where do I stream to?
To RTMP, RTMPS and SRT destinations, several at once, from a single encode. Program can also go full screen to any display macOS detects, leave as NDI and, with Blackmagic hardware, as SDI.
Can I record?
Yes. Program records to a QuickTime file with HEVC (or H.264) video and 24-bit sound, written in one-second fragments so that a crash keeps nearly everything. Armed NDI, USB, Blackmagic and audio inputs can also be recorded to their own files.
Does it work with Stream Deck?
Yes. The plug-in comes with InterDirector and needs Stream Deck software 6.4 or later. Its keys light up to show state.
What happens if a camera or a network source drops?
InterDirector keeps trying to bring it back, at intervals that stretch to thirty seconds, and its card says it is retrying. Your other sources, and the outputs, carry on.
Does it send anything about my show anywhere?
No. The journal and diagnostics that InterDirector keeps stay on your Mac and are never uploaded.
Can I make my own overlays?
Yes. An overlay is an HTML package with a small description of the controls it offers, so anyone who can write a web page can make one. Ten overlays come with the app.
