Keyboard shortcuts and the Stream Deck

A keyboard key and a Stream Deck button are the same thing to InterDirector — something you press that does something — so they are set up the same way, in one list.

Add one

In Show Settings, Controls, press Add Button, then Learn…. Press the key or the Stream Deck button you want to use, and InterDirector remembers it — as “⌘⇧F2”, or “Stream Deck XL, row 2, key 3”, whichever it was. Choose what it should do from the same 34 actions a rule can run: Cut, Fade, mute a source, start or stop streaming, capture a replay clip, move through a data source’s rows, and more.

You can name a mapping, and switch it off without deleting it — useful for a button set up for one kind of show that you do not want firing during another.

If two buttons do the same thing

Learning a key or button that is already used shows it plainly: “Another button is learned to the same press. Only the first one runs.” Nothing is silently overwritten.

Finding a mapping again

Find by Pressing… does the opposite of Learn: press a key or button, and InterDirector shows you what, if anything, it is already set to.

The Stream Deck plug-in

InterDirector’s Stream Deck plug-in installs with the app itself — there is nothing separate to download — and needs Stream Deck software 6.4 or later. Its keys light up to show state: on air, streaming, recording, and the rest, the same way the buttons in InterDirector’s own window do.
