Troubleshooting

I don't see any NDI sources

InterDirector finds NDI sources automatically, by discovery on your local network. If nothing appears when you add an NDI input, the most common cause is the network, not InterDirector or the sender.

What to check

  • The same network. This Mac and the NDI sender (a camera, an encoder, another application) both have to be on the same local network. A guest Wi-Fi network, a network with client isolation switched on, or being on a different VLAN from the sender, all stop discovery from working even though both devices can otherwise reach the internet.
  • The sender is actually sending. Check the source app or camera itself is running and its NDI output is turned on; it will not appear here if it is not.
  • A firewall. Some routers and managed switches block the multicast traffic NDI discovery relies on. If you control the network, check whether it allows mDNS/Bonjour-style discovery between devices.
  • Refresh. If a source has only just started sending, it can take a moment to appear.

If discovery still does not find it

Some networks cannot see a sender through discovery even when everything else is right — a large corporate network is the usual case. If you know that describes your venue, the sender’s own NDI settings are the place to look for another way to reach it directly, rather than relying on it appearing automatically here.
