Recording Program

Start and stop

Press Record to start saving Program, and again to stop. Recording runs independently of streaming: you can record without streaming, stream without recording, or both at once, and stopping one never affects the other.

The file

Program is recorded as a QuickTime file with your choice of HEVC (smaller, for a machine that can play it back) or H.264 (opens on older editing machines), and 24-bit PCM sound. It is written in one-second fragments, so a crash or a power cut keeps everything up to the last second rather than leaving a file that will not open at all.
